Sweat / Inipi Worthy Drums

I am excited to introduce this sweat/inipi worthy drum to my produce line. These drums are especially prepared to hold up under humid conditions.

I have been making drums for the last 22 years, up until 4 years ago I did not bring my drums into a sweat, then I was called to the Lakota traditions. These ceremonies use drums in their sweats. My community in Portland has been using my drums in their ceremonies and the need for me to produce drums that held up in humidity was born. My teacher talked with an elder in New Mexico and got the basic, research and testing completed the process.

They are smoked then sealed to create a drumhead that stands up in moist conditions. For those of you who like to drum outside, in humid conditions like near the ocean, or outside ritual this drum will hold up.

I make these drums with hides that have been traditionally used for sweat drum elk, horse and buffalo.

I look forward to making a new sweat/inipi drum for you.
